A pleasant town of carps (Koi)

Constructed as the second house of a medical doctor during Meiji period, the Shimeiso villa is named for having all round (four directional) beautiful view. With colorful Koi elegantly swimming in a pond filled with beautiful spring water, rich and varied garden hosting with Japanese red pines and maples, Shimeiso just fascinates all visitors. The place was designated as national monuments and sites in 2008, as a tangible cultural property in 2014, and today became an important, permanent touristic spot as “The pleasant town of carps”.
