島原地方の郷土料理「具雑煮」
伝説としては、島原の乱の原城籠城軍が作ったものが起源とされる島原の郷土料理「具雑煮」。1637年、天草四郎率いる約3万7千人の一揆軍が原城（南島原市）へと籠城した際、農民たちに餅を兵糧として蓄えさせ、山や海から様々な具材を持ち寄って雑煮を炊き、約3ヶ月も戦ったといわれています。餅、野菜、鶏肉などの具を種類・量とも多く入れて煮込んだ雑煮は、今では家庭料理として親しまれています。
Gu-Zohni, a traditional cuisine of the region
Legends says the origin of Gu-Zohni, rice cake soup, comes from the cuisine made by the besieged army in the Hara-jo Castle, total 37,000 forces led by Shiro Amakusa, stored rice cake, and added various fillings from foods gathered from the mountain and the sea to fight for 3 months, The soup today is known as home cuisine of the region, with “gu (fillings)” such as rice cake, chicken, and various kinds of vegetables.
