A national park “Unzen”,
has been blessed with a wealth of hot springs since its opening 1300 years ago.

Unzen, located on the west side of the Shimabara Peninsula in the southeastern part of Nagasaki Prefecture,
was designated as Japan's first national park in 1934.
Since our establishment in 1907, we have been welcoming many guests as the only Japanese Onsen hotel in Unzen, which has exclusive four sources of hot springs on the premises, while cherishing the peaceful environment of nature.
We hope that you will enjoy the healing time away from your daily life while feeling the nature with your five senses through the soft hot water, fresh food, and rooms surrounded by greenery.

The hotel has four private sources of hot springs on the premises, and each bathhouse uses a different source.
Unzen Onsen is a sulfuric spring, but each source has a different color and density, so you can enjoy a tour of the hot springs while staying in the hotel.

Hours of use: 16:00 - 24:00 (50-minute time system)
Charter fee: 2,200 yen (tax included)
Reservations are required on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations can also be made by phone in advance.

A room with an open-air hot spring bath where you can enjoy the fourth source of hot spring water. You can experience Unzen hot spring in a quiet and private space adjacent to a Japanese garden.
There are two types of baths available: a Hinoki (Japanese Cypress) bath and a Shigaraki ware (Porcelain)bath. Please let us know which type you prefer when you make your reservation.

There exists approximately thirty large and small Unzen-Jigoku in East and West part around the town. Experience an hour walk through the dynamic landscape of boiling water bubbling from the rocky ground and white reeky steam rising with sulfuric odor.
The night tour of Unzen Jigoku is also offered(by appointment only)

Unzen Nita-Toge pass

At this place, get fascinated by the natural beauty of each season. During Spring, azalea coming to bloom in striking contrasting density. In summer, Japanese dogwood saluting with its lovely white flowers. In Autumn the whole area changes its’ color with Autumn foliage - which famous scenery designated as natural treasure by the country. During Winter, mystical atmosphere prevails throughout the region, with frosted fog and cloud deposits forming on trunk and branches all around, which is called “Muhyo”.

Shirakumo no Ike, about one hectare area, is surrounded by nature and there are many wild birds and insects. Also, Heisei-shinzan can be seen in the distance from the lakeside. The nearby Mt. Kinugasa is a great place for bird watching, with many encounters with wild birds. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains of Unzen.

Unzen Golf Course
Unzen Golf Course

Unzen golf course opened in 1913, and is the oldest public course in Japan. Tomisaburo Kuraba(Glover) made efforts to establish this course, who was the son of Thomas Glover, known for the opera "Madame Butterfly." The course is a hilly course at an elevation of 750M, and this historical hand-made course integrated with nature, occupy 380,000㎡. And there is an authentic short 9-hole course as well. You can enjoy this course during all seasons while appreciating nature.
